Jean Piaget was a Swiss biologist and psychologist who developed the theory of cognitive development. He wanted to know how children went through the process of intellectual development. He started his observations on his own three children and watched them carefully as they matured. He believed that as children develop their minds become more sophisticated in the way they process and understand information. He also believed mental development had to do with the child's environment and their interactions with the world. He was interested in the development and understanding of a child's mind. He thought that a child matures mentally as they go through his four stages of development.
Jean Piaget contributed greatly to the study of cognitive development among children. His ideas are studied by countless students in the academic world. He opened the gate for many other studies of cognitive development. He has also influenced the curriculum of many elementary schools because they are more aware of how a child's mind develops.
